For many, Prom is a night of dreams.
“I think it is important for students to create core memories with their friends,” said teacher event organizer, Amanda Hodge. “Prom is somewhat of a right of passage into adulthood.”

Prom is traditionally a night of fun awarded to students who have made it close to the end of their high school career. For some students, this could be their first or second prom celebration.
Many students also have different reasons for attending. It could be for fun, hanging out with friends, dressing up, and etc. For senior Johnson Thalope it is “this is my senior year and it’s my first time going to prom.”
Prom this year will take place at The Grand Ballroom at Crowne Plaza on April 26 and will feature close to a thousand students, according to Hodge.
With such a large variety of students, that also means a large variety of songs and music to be played. Senior Thalope’s song request of the night is “Playboy Carti ‘Fein’.”
Hosting such a large event filled with high school students is a safety challenge for students, staff, parents and guardians, but organizers are up to the challenge. “We have a full staff of officers and outside security,” said Hodge.
