The Franklin Central High School Football team is off to a strong start this season with transfer senior QB Connor Moreland at the helm of the offense.
The team are 3-1 so far with a key win over rival Roncalli, a blowout win over Perry Meridian, and a conference win over Zionsville. The Flashes also lost to a top-30 nationally ranked Brownsburg team.
Moreland, first-year starter and one of the star players, was recently featured on the IndyStar’s play of the week twice.
“The boys have worked extremely hard so far this year to get to the point we are at and we hope to continue to work harder to be better every day and every week”, said Defensive Backs Coach Joe Rush.
Originally coming from Speedway, Connor Moreland is already connected with the team.
Moreland says that moving from Speedway to FC has been a change, “but in a good way. I like these guys. It was different, trying to find the right plays and people who can play them, but I like the change.”

Head Football Coach, Jason West says that Connor is doing a great job and that he is a great leader and that the team is blessed to have him as a quarterback.
Sadly the Brownsburg loss stopped his streak but Connor isn’t the only star player: Jayce Brewer, tight end and defensive end, has over 26 offers as a high school junior.
Brewer describes his playing style as “very good in the passing game and I rush the quarterback very [well].”
Rush knows that the start to the year for FC has gone pretty well so far, other than that blemish with Brownsburg. He also knows that there are still going to be challenges in the weeks ahead.
“[At] the end of the year we will go to some hostile environments, so we just have to prepare for anything that comes our way.”
The Flashes travel to Avon for their next contest on Friday, September 19 before their big Homecoming game hosting Noblesville.
