Student Council is a club where students come together and participate in many activities that promote and improve student life at FC.
The club usually meets around once or twice a month with leaders Ms. Weis and Ms.Hough. Students come together for many reasons and because of this, Student Council has become one big family.
Ms. Weis says that often students might be hesitant to join Student Council due to the perceived workload. “I think they think it will be too much work or too much of a time commitment,” Weis says. “However, we have all kinds of kids in our group – many who do lots of other things – and we are very flexible with their schedules.”
Ella Coyner, a member of Student Council, listed several reasons why she joined student council. First among these were the fun atmosphere and meeting friendly new people.
Student Council has many activities and opportunities to make sure your voice is heard. Ms. Weis helps us gain more insight on how they make sure everyone’s voice is heard by talking about how they split people into sub committees and rely on leaders to communicate concerns and ideas.
Coyner also says that connecting with students in the club contributes to a sense of family.
“I’ve met more friends than I’d ever thought I’d meet and my friends know some friends, so I’m friends with them, and it’s just like a big family and they are very fun to be around,” she says.
Overall, Student Council is a small family that can help make yours and others’ high school experiences better. There are many activities to do just in student council alone and it allows for better connections.
