Girls Track & Field Wins Sectional Title

Franklin Central’s Girls Track and Field team captured the 2022-23 Sectional Track and Field Title Tuesday night at Warren Central, marking its first sectional title since 2008.

Led by coach Matt Sweetman, the girls team finished with 148 points, topping second-place Warren Central’s 137 and third-place New Palestine’s 103.66 points. None of the other eight teams competing scored more than 100 points.

The Flashes won with a team effort, though multiple girls took home individual titles.

Rebecca Uhlik won the pole vault with a height of 10’8″. Ella Desjean (5:16.34) and Kylie Cline (5:24.43) finished first and second, respectively, in the 1600 meter run, with third place coming in almost 20 seconds behind Cline.

Cline won the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:30.16, with Savana Miller finishing second at 11:42.30.
